Life-Pedia-OverspawnLv2-(Apocalypse).png
This enormous creature is deposited by an Alien Mothership. Its primary objective appears to be destruction of the city and annihilation of X-COM bases. The terror and panic that it causes amongst the population indicates a change in Alien strategy. It is possible that they have abandoned their attempts at infiltration and are now only concerned with revenge and retribution against X-COM. From: Apocalypse Ufopaedia

The Overspawn is a hybrid creature, derived from the Megaspawn genetic pool. It is difficult to kill, but will eventually succumb to bombardment by Disruptor Beams and other powerful weapons. Fortunately it has no ranged combat capability. From: Apocalypse Ufopaedia

Overspawn Terror

Life-EquipIcon-Overspawn-(Apocalypse).png

An Overspawn is a giant bi-pedal alien which is deposited into Mega-Primus to destroy the city and cause terror. A Mothership is the only UFO able to transport one Overspawn in its cargo hold which it will 'drop' via the typical 'grey smokey tube' effect. An overspawn does not infiltrate buildings.
The Overspawn's only method of combat is to walk about in random directions and destroy any structure which it bumps into. It is blind. It cannot attack hostile air craft nor will it stomp road vehicles.
When an overspawn is moving about, they do not avoid any collapsing structure and will blindly walk into it, causing massive health loss. This lack of regard for its own survival will often kill the overspawn.

Relations

An Overspawn will cause turmoil in regards to inter-organisation relationships. Any damage the overspawn causes will result in hostility towards Aliens from that targeted corporation but will garner positive relations from their enemies. If a friendly-to-alien organisation is now targeted, all the previous new relations adjustments are now changed. Allied, Friendly, Neutral, Unfriendly and Hostile attitudes may change dramatically by the random targeting of different owned-structures by the Overspawn. X-Com, as an organisation, may have allies who were hostiles a moment ago, and when X-Com kills more aliens, more hostiles will appear since the aliens have new friends because they attacked their enemy...
Monetary compensation demanded from fickle companies may fianancially stress X-Com.

Research
Overspawn research is another step further for understanding all alien lifeforms.

Notes

  • This lifeform cannot be captured, only killed. The live entry for the in-game Ufopaedia in not available.
  • This is the only ground-based vehicle that can move freely throughout Mega-Primus. It is not constrained to roads.
  • Megaspawns cannot move diagonally in any direction.
  • If this alien is deposited onto a building instead of the ground. It will confuse an Overspawn.
