XCOM-2 E3-Screenshot Berserker hero.jpg

The Berserker are derived from Mutons but are much more animalistic and brutish monsters.

The Berserkers are a much more brutish monster than the Mutons that rushes to crush their targets. They can deal Devastating Blows against any targets they strike at which can potentially disable them as well. As they get damaged, they can become Enraged which grants them a large mobility bonus to allow them to chase their targets with greater efficiency.

Tips

  • As a melee unit, they have to be within close range in order to attack. Thus an easy way to deal with them is to split your team such that the berserker chases one soldier whereas the rest of the team can fire shots freely without risk. This may be a bit difficult to do as Rage can grant such an incredible mobility boost that they may still perform an attack.
    • As a pure melee unit, they are also incredibly vulnerable to Combatives which can effectively stun lock them as they do not have any other attacks as long as they continue to graze.
  • The Berserker as a melee unit with no capabilities to reach higher elevation, you can effectively block pathways such as ladders forcing them to take the hits or find an alternative path to reach our soldiers.
  • The Berserker is not the quickest when not enraged. With how durable they are, it is best to focus on other threats if they are not close enough to strike our soldiers. Not enraging them also makes it easier to flee from them if necessary.
  • A unique characteristic of the Berserker is that they are raging beasts and causing them to go alert with no enemies in sight can sometimes result in them attacking their own allies.
