General Information

A deceptively small sized combat ship, the Sentry Ship is a dedicated patrol ship intended to deter interception attempts by Earth military forces. Compared to the smaller sized Fighter the Sentry Ship is better equipped for this task. However it will not attempt to pursue X-COM aircraft.

Geoscape

This UFO presents a major threat to X-COM interceptors, amongst the 'small' class UFOs this class of UFO has the most powerful weapon for its size. Like the Fighter, this UFO has seen major enhancements to its primary weapon, which has increased it to a weapon power of 60, this weapon power is comparable to many larger classes of UFOs, and is capable of two-hit destroying standard X-COM Interceptors. The craft also has more health than other small class UFOs at 375. Suffice it to say, this UFO is the strongest small class UFO the Aliens have.

Extreme caution is advised if attempting to intercept the Sentry Ship.

Battlescape

The Sentry Ship is comparable in size to the Large Scout, and thus operates an identical crew-number to it, expect approximately 11 to 18 Aliens on board.

This is a one-level ship, it is essentially three small block sections connected by a long, two tile wide, access corridor. The central block, positioned upwards of the remaining blocks, is where the bridge is located, one of the side blocks will feature the Power Source.

Most variations of the Sentry Ship have two external entrances located by the left and right blocks. Some alternative and less common designs feature only a single entrance located beneath the central ship's block, which can make assaulting the ship more dangerous as the entranceway offers no real cover for assaulting troops who are vulnerable to aliens exiting the ship. If the sole Power Source is destroyed during a crash landing, this can expose one of the two side blocks.

The extreme length of the ship makes it easy for inhabiting Aliens to hold position and ambush soldiers attempting to enter, or to rush to meet any Human intruders. Judicious usage of Motion Scanners and Proximity Mines are recommended.
