Firepower Analysis

  • vs Pistol - Firepower is a shocking one third vs the Pistol in both Snap and Aimed modes. Point-blank firepower is halved. One-hit-kill probability vs front armour of a Sectoid/Aquatoid is down from a respectable 0.35 (35%), to nil. Even the raw hit rate is down by over 40%, reducing its effectiveness as a training weapon. Much lower penetration (damage rating) ensures that its usefulness degrades much more quickly against armour than the Pistol.

Considering the AP damage resistance and armor values, this thing is next to useless!!! Jasonred 16:42, 5 April 2009 (EDT)

I am normally rather open to the various weapons and acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses. Heck, I enjoy using UFO's Pistol. Just not the dart gun - I'd much rather reaction fire the Hydrojet on land than deliberately use the dart gun - to put it mildly.
Even then, it does have one merit. It is an effective and very cheap training weapon. Good for reaction training too. For basic firing accuracy training, the gauss pistol does it better - just find an unarmed lobsterman and plink away at it at less the time it takes to empty the dart gun's entire clip. -NKF 01:48, 6 April 2009 (EDT)
... But the dart gun allows you to plink away at... ANYTHING. It takes an average of 8 shots to do 40 damage to an unarmored X-com agent. Geez. It takes quite a number of shots do down a freaking Gillman or Deep One on Superhuman... Jasonred 04:21, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

Ufopedia Error

Ufopedia has the ammo capacity as 10, when actually it is 12. Spike 18:33, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
