Cyberdisc - closed disc form

The Cyberdisc is a flying heavy weapons platform equipped with a devastating plasma cannon and covered in tough armour plating. When first encountered the Cyberdisc will be in a closed disk like form not unlike a miniature UFO. When the Cyberdisc is ready to attack it opens up to reveal a terrifying mass of tentacles bustling with heavy weaponry. It will take a lot of firepower to take down and it also comes equipped with an alien grenade.

The disc will explode on death, damaging everything in a small radius.

Note that Cyberdiscs will always work in groups with Drone units. The Drones can repair the Cyberdisc. You might want to kill the Drones so the Cyberdisc cannot be healed. Just make sure the reward in doing so is greater than the risk.

Tactical Advice

When a Cyberdisc appears you should prioritise them over other aliens you may be fighting. The disc will take any opportunity to flank your men and chew them up with their Plasma Cannon.

Cyberdisc - open assault form

Hitting them can be tough at first because they are closed when you first spot them. It will be difficult but make every effort you can to hit them. Snipers will obviously excel at disc hunting as they can provide extremely accurate fire even when the disc is closed. On their turn when they are on the attack they will need to open up in order to fire. This will make them more vulnerable to your weapons. They will be far easier to hit in their open form but make sure you hit them with something powerful as they will close up again when hit.

As long as you kill the Disc quickly enough Drones shouldn't factor too much in their repair. Sometimes you might be able to kill the Drones as well as the Disc as the Disc will explode when killed, damaging everything in a small radius.
