The Dart Gun is a low powered one-handed personal firearm that stores and launches 12 darts. It is not restricted by the environment and will function just as well in and out of water.
The Dart Gun features the lowest price of any weapon, a one handed grip, and the fastest Snap fire rate of any weapon, eclipsed only by the auto-fire weapons. However, it has one crippling flaw - its lack of damage. Even Aquatoids will take 2-4 hits to kill, and Gillmen about 10. Almost all other aliens are immune to being damaged by this weapon. As such, it is useless except for training soldiers in Reactions and Firing Accuracy, since the primary use of weapons is to kill aliens and the Dart Gun fails this basic test.
This weapon appears in Terror from the Deep. For the UFO: Enemy Unknown equivalent, refer to the Pistol.
