The most expensive facility in the game (but worth every penny), the Hyper-Wave Decoder not only picks up any UFO within its detection range, but informs you of the type, mission, and race onboard.

The Small and Large Radar systems have a percentage chance of detecting UFOs passing within range, but the Hyper-Wave Decoder will detect any UFO within its range immediately. Once a this facility is constructed, all other radar systems housed in the same base become unnecessary and can be dismantled.

Although the Hyper-Wave Decoder's actual range is unknown, it is the ultimate tool for UFO Detection. It adds one unit to your base's "Long Range Detection" meter, although that statistic is meaningless. Clearly there is no need for building more than one Hyper-Wave Decoder in any given base, even if there was it is likely that it would have no effect, as per the Radar systems.
