The Multiworm is clearly a crucial stage in the complex Alien life cycle. It is capable of attacking by propelling a fluid from pores along the side of the body containing a complex mix of micro-organisms that use enzymes and acids to break down the molecular structure of the target. The Multiworm resembles a large green worm with teeth that spits acid. This is one of the earliest units you will meet. It is one of the most valuable [[Biochemistry]] research specimens, and it is therefore recommended that one be captured early.

The Multiworm is a low ground hugging creature that spans across two tiles and has moderate armor coupled with a high amount of health. This makes it difficult to kill with early low powered weaponry. The high health also requires that it has to be carefully injured before it can be stunned.

A slow moving green worm with red lips and a toothy grin that spits strong acid at nearby hostiles and births four hyperworms upon death.

Infiltration
Multiworms are common within Mega-Primus buildings only in the beginning of the infestation since they with change into another lifeform soon after.
Multiworms, when moving to other buildings when spreading across Mega-Primus, may hatch, birthing four Hyperworms.

Combat

Unit

Multiworms are very resistant to psionics.

Multiworms move slowly. Heading straight, they will extend their body (two-cells) whereas they will contract to a 'blob' (one-cell) when turning to face a new direction.
A Multiworm attacks by spitting a green projectile which has a short range (12cells) but will try to avoid combat unless supported by other aliens. It does not bite anything. A lone multiworm will try to hide or attempt to escape the battle.
The Multiworm has very high health but once dead, the worm 'turns into' four hyperworms which are a further threat. Stunning a healthy Multiworm is not possible unless the lifeform's health is reduced to approximately half to two-thirds. A stunned worm does not give birth.

Resistance
Multiworms are resistant to any stun effects.

A captured Multiworm is very important to further X-Com's understanding of alien genetics and reproduction.
