The Personal Disruptor Shield generates an energy field which warps the space around the user. This causes beams or projectiles to be deflected and dissipated. Any hit causes the shield's energy to drain and if it reaches a critically low level it will malfunction. It is a highly sophisticated device that we can reproduce only with great effort.

It is used to protect against almost all forms of damage by enveloping a unit in a 'blue bubble' of dimensional energy until its own energy level has been reduced to zero, which the device self destructs harmlessly and disappears.

Any unit becomes protected when their health bar turns blue and, although a hand-held device, it will work the same if placed in an agent's backpack.
If a (multi) shielded agent is under sustained attack, only one shield device is 'protecting' at any one time. The blue shield bar will deplete when absorbing impacts until it reaches zero, then immediately the second shield will become active by displaying a full blue health shield bar. Disengaging the hostiles to prevent destruction of a shield will allow it to slowly recharge.
A single shield will protect uniformly until it depletes its energy. Shields do not stack their effect like vehicle shields. Only one is active, thus, an agent carrying four shields does not have 400 shield strength, but 100, four times.

- Laser Beam
- Plasma
- High Explosive
- Incendiary
- Stun Grapple
- Disruptor Beam
- Entropy Enzyme
- Acid Spit
- Falling Debris
- Falling Impact
but not:
- Brainsuckers
- Smoke
- Stun Gas
- Toxigun
- Psionics
- Anti-Alien Gas
