: Oh, it's in OBDATA.DAT at offset 41. Base accuracy for the Vibro Blade is 150% while it's 160% for both of the lances. I suspect the reason for the exorbitant weapon accuracy is to make up for the very low base soldier melee stat (20-40%). But even with this the BCTH still hovers between 30-60% with the Vibre Blade and 32-64% with the lances. --[[User:Zombie|Zombie]] 15:15, 9 March 2009 (CDT)

Just a bit of trivia: I'm almost certain this stat goes back to X-com's spiritual predecessor, Laser Squad. In that game, every soldier had a Close Combat stat and all weapons could be used for melee attacks. It was quite detailed actually - e.g. a pistol was more accurate than a rifle butt, but it also did less damage.

Hmm, it seems rather counter-intuitive that you would get a melee accuracy bonus for kneeling. But I suppose whether it applies depends on whether the designers thought of this detail. --Captain Foo 09:37, 1 September 2008 (PDT)

Melee Accuracy in TFTD?

Can anyone enlighten me on how this works in TFTD? The main article here is a bit vague. Is there a % Hit chance attached to the action, like there is with a firearm? Is the Melee Accuracy stat used? Is the weapon stat multiplied by the Accuracy stat, as per normal? Or is it just an automatic hit, every time, like the Stun Rod in XCOM Enemy Unknown? Spike 12:59, 9 March 2009 (CDT)

Yes, the Melee Accuracy of the soldier using the weapon is actually used now in a Base Chance To Hit (BCTH) determination along with the weapons accuracy stat. --Zombie 14:52, 9 March 2009 (CDT)
Excellent! And what is the weapons' base accuracy stat? We don't seem to have them on the UFOPaedia. I can't even seem to find them inspecting OBDATA.DAT (maybe TFTD has a different format?). Spike 14:55, 9 March 2009 (CDT)
