Talk:Police Hovercar (Apocalypse)

The article claims Police Hovercars are "always on active patrol" - but are do they actually patrol at all? I believe they scramble if an illegal flier appears, or if someone directly attacks a Megapol building, but otherwise stay put. Also, maybe I'm taking it too literally, but they don't seem to be Phoenix Hovercars used by the police, either - they have substantially less staying power. Darkpast (talk) 22:59, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

It looks like some artistic license taken with the prose. I think it would be better to say that poor relations will cause any police hovercars responding to incidents to also attack X-Com craft. They are indeed about half a Phoenix Hovercar at best. Their main value comes from (usually) being the first responders to engage with incoming threats. NKF (talk) 05:04, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
Any parked Police Hovercars do occasionally take off if a hostile craft is flying nearby the building they are at, so there is at least that. I think it has something to do with the relations, the moment it gets low enough organizations will send out their craft if another hostile craft is passing by. The Megapol Mod showcases this nicely, where if you send out your craft you will have X-Com craft take off and shoot them down. How exactly this is triggered though I don't know. Also I think it has to be a seperate craft they're sending out, as the standard building defences will only take off if the actual building is attacked, which is why organizations such as Cult of Sirius will never have any craft take off to intercept any of your X-Com vehicles passing by. What the page actually says is that Police Cars (the ground cars) are always on active patrol. This is generally true, but not very relevant to the page about Police Hovercars. Magic9mushroom (talk) 09:13, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
