Rewritting of alot of pages to make it more encyclo for the only reason: OpenApoc. I'm trying to have a (crono) logical format for each page, uniform layout, removing fluff, pub-talk, weasle-words, incorrect stuff, and rewriting alot of the cringey stuff I wrote back in the days... ahem: Stun Grapple Raids ...not saying that valuable contributions to the raid page by other authors is cringe, but mine certainly was! Eek!

I use this format as a guide. It is not some mandatory thing!

UFOpaedia Image Sizing and Format

Note: Using this format removes the thumbnail error from pages when using large pics which automatiically become resized smaller. Small pics don't have this error when using these commands within the insert image code:

  • open any ufopedia .pcx to be changed.
  • Zoom in to have pixel-perfect cuts.
  • cut pedia pic to remove any colour from any edge which is not blue - keep the title bar - and cut at the blue edge.
  • Reticulan font used. Size 34, all caps, placed manually, approx. left alignment - word for word (fix spelling mistakes, if any) from pedia.mt.
  • save file with a relevant name using (Apocalypse) at the end, as a PNG. eg:

Craft-Pedia-BigGunName-(Apocalypse).png

  • upload it.

Title Wrap

Cannot fit a one-line title description into the title bar? Try this:

  • cut original blank grey title bar and then resize x200% height. save as a new bmp file, keep it.

then any pedia pic which cannot fit title text as one line:

  • place new 200% title bar exactly at top right side somewhere without touching blue area of the pic. This is your reference point to line up the content pic.
  • Zoom in to have pixel-perfect cuts.
  • cut pedia pic to remove any colour from edge. Cut underneath title bar - it is not needed. Cut partial section to keep as much as the background intact.
  • paste this large content pic lower but still on the same left side and exactly lined up with the right side's new 200% title bar's lowest point (the reference point).
  • paste once again 'new 200% title bar' into top left.
  • insert text, font size 34, write title as same from pedia.mt.
  • line up text for two lines (eyeball it!) to have equal distances from top/bottom and left edge. Do not indent second line.
  • don't convince yourself that you are crazy have OCD.
