The mechanics of mind shields
Mind shields are the only base-defense structures I use, and I know nothing of their effectiveness. How effective is one mind shield? Will multiple mind shields provide greater protection? Where is the point of diminishing returns? A shadowy paramilitary commander needs to know these things. --Papa Legba 11:51, 19 October 2006 (PDT)

I can't remember where I've read this, but only one has any effect. Based on my experience, I'd say they reduce the chances of your base being found by a "Retaliation" mission to about 10%.--Ethereal Cereal 11:06, 20 October 2006 (PDT)
I think it's more effective than 10%, but yes it does improve your base concealment considerably. It hasn't been verified (there's no quick and easy way to test this), but I too think only one module will have any effect. A lot of the other structures that most of us always thought would improve in power when more were added have been sorely disappointed. Like the grav shields and the radars. -NKF

"Once an alien group finds your base, they will continue to attack that base until you allow them to land, then defeat them in tactical combat." My first base has been attacked roughly every second day now, by a sectoid battleship. Every time I have defeated them in tactical, but they still keep coming. I Also once sent an avenger to take it down before it got to my base but it started to feel like a bad idea because the avenger will spend next 10 attacks in the shop being repaired after that. -Late
