Does anyone bother using Toxiguns? I am, after cleansing the city, and keeping aliens trapped behind the gates, only use double devastator guns to lay down a barrage. They are infinite, fast firing, extremely powerful.

Anti alien gas minilaunchers are a different matter entirely.--X-COM:Turcocalypse 18:33, 28 December 2010 (EST)

Yes, Devastators are very powerful, but toxiguns ignore shields, fire very quickly, and tend to kill aliens in just one or two shots. That grants them far more stopping power when used against aliens, and means you can recover shields easily. I tend to bring both, but favour the toxiguns. -  Bomb Bloke (Talk/Contribs) 18:52, 28 December 2010 (EST)
Both are ultimate weapons, and each has its merits.
You could go with dual Devastators as your primary weapons and carry a toxigun and a few spare rounds in one pocket. There are a lot of aliens that don't use shields or carry tools. For these, the devastators are more the more sufficient unless you want to take something down fast (i.e. Megaspawn). When you spot any easy marks, drop the Devastators and use the toxigun to get the shields.
Alternately, go with the toxigun as a primary weapon, and pick up Devastators in combat if you need them or when you run out of ammo.
And for the turn based fans: Have a peek at the TU Threshold tables. Toxigun auto attacks don't increase to 2 TUs until you hit 100 TUs. Compared to the Devastator, it's quite unfair. -NKF 04:47, 29 December 2010 (EST)

You have to wonder why they didn't just use their home grown Sectoids to overcome the problem with their lifespan.--SuicidalSectoid 15:48, 23 October 2012 (EDT)
