@ester, I have no idea what your meaning is regarding 10 agents in the Valkyrie. Why do you keep using the number 10? a valkyrie can fit 8 agents, +4 for every passenger module.

** Hello, stun raiding is commonly chosen when starting a new game to offset the lax funds, minimal available ammunition quantities, and to get advanced devices (everyone goes for marsec chest pieces from the get go) since the start may be quite difficult. The second time stun raid is used in bulk is to steal personal shields (why build them when its far easier to steal them).

The reason for the ten agents is ten backpacks to fill with multiple-raids at the START so that the reader can realise (and the hotlink provided to valkyrie) that all ten should go and not to limit themselves. If you have a read through the old Stun Raid page (which I wrote back in 2006 when i 'invented' stun raiding) my style was of heavy detail and do-this and do-that without any sort of alternative.

Try not to repeat what is contained in every hotlink of any pages since repeating the same stuff is not ideal and quickly mires the article with 'garbage'... and a perfect example is the old stun raid page. it is cringe inducing!

*** just might add. you START the game with 10 agents, alot of the time no one is avaiable to hire - so uoi get stuck with 10 agents for the whole day and there is an infestation to do, everyone goes and steals marsec chest as soons as possible!

@Ester, why are you deleting what I wrote. If X-com baits COS into a firefight, any damage done to the city by COS weapons counts as damage to the city. It doesn't have to just be X-com or the aliens.

:Do you want the nice answer or my honest answer?

Why is the nice answer different from your honest answer? ... well, anyhow, give me both then lol Jasonred79 (talk) 19:38, 12 April 2022 (CEST)

Also, you seem to be mistaken. X-com diplomatic relations seems to be affected by number of stray hits, regardless of damage, but "damage to city" score seems to be calculated based on actual damage done. You can test this out by comparing the change in score when you pepper the place with autocannon rounds vs using retribution missiles.

Talk:Tactical_Combat_Missions_(Apocalypse) i tested this by looking at values of relations change with Apoc'd (savegame, check Apoc'd relations, make note, reload game, continue, wait for one shot more, savegame.... etc.etc.) with different variations of who attacked who, who missed at hit a building, if score changes, if relationship changed by accidental overshoot etc.
The tactic of parking in front of CoS to make them hostile to another company does not work EXCEPT with aliens try to shoot your craft (when hovering in front of Cos).EsTeR (talk) 20:13, 12 April 2022 (CEST)

wrong, again.
edited weapons to make sure:

* Bolter 15 damage

* retrobution 200 damage
bolter one shot into slum building no segment damage: Damage to city = -6
retrobution one shot into the same spot on slum building segment destroyed, above collapsed, whole building eventually collasped :Damage to city = -6
Damage to City score depends on what got hit and, not how.

Ugh, you're absolutely right about the damage to city. I was completely mistaken about this.
And I just retested for the parking your craft in front of COS and getting them to shoot at you. For some WEIRD reason, diplomatic relationships only drop when damage is done, not on a "per shot that hits" basis"

I can post a youtube video for proof on this, if you wish.

Edit: Also, I forgot... since I was completely wrong about the damage to city thing, I owe you an apology. I was overly proud and confident that I was correct, and stupidly insisted I was right instead of testing it out myself right away. I was an idiot and hope that you can forgive me for that.

Thankyou, your apology has been warmly accepted. I do feel I owe you an apology also for being so short-tempered. Real life frustrations affecting me and thus I have to take a beep breath, step back a bit, and not be such an asshole. regards, EsTeR (talk) 20:03, 13 April 2022 (CEST)

Not at all! I know how frustrating it can be when someone insists that he is correct, and you are pretty sure you are the one who is correct instead... and then you go and test it to make sure, and this clown still insists that he is correct. In hindsight, I should have just tested it myself, and not insisted I was right about Damage to City with no leg to stand on. Sigh. Honestly, I'm not sure how I missed something so obvious. It's not very hard to test at all, as you said just fire a few shots into a building and see what happens to the score. ... whereas testing for diplomatic relationship effects is much more tedious. (it was MUCH MUCH more tedious before I downloaded Apoc'd!!!)

The making everyone hate COS definitely works though, and I have in fact made a Permanent Save where I have turned COS into the public enemy... except that they sign treaties, and I have to go bait them to shoot up some more buildings. LOL!!! Jasonred79 (talk) 20:14, 13 April 2022 (CEST)

That is interesting. I'll do some testing to check if CoS are an exception to the general idea that:

* since they are the 'bad guys', maybe their buildings are calculated differently.

* attacking their building, they retaliate, miss your craft, hit an innocent building, what relations change between:

** Cos and innocent

** inncoent and xcom

** CoS vs transtellar (if people tube got hit etc.) vs xcom.

** is Synthemesh got angry if trees got damaged etc.

It can get complicated quickly when you check before, check after one shot... EsTeR (talk) 20:24, 13 April 2022 (CEST)

Partial Test
specific to bullding damage only (relations not tested) - CoS damage does not change xcom's 'Damage to City' score. I gave hovercars edited Bolter laser (150damage) + 40mm cannon unedited. I attacked Cos temple with my hoverbike (1xrendor). Cos launched defense craft and they:

* shot 40mm into building, no segment collapse, no 'damge to city' score change.

* shot Bolter into same building, destruction of segment (and collapse of building), no score change.

** as expected, either aliens do damage or xcom does damage (segment hit or destroyed doesn't matter), no score change.

Note: I did not check anything about relations.

I tested for relationships with Apoc'd. For some weird reason, aliens and Xcom only have to have shots hit, and ignores damage, but for other corporations including COS, it seems to only count shots that actually damage tiles? huh.
