How to structure XCOM: Enemy Unknown content

Lets start a discussion here on how to best structure the pages for the new game. Keep it short, clear and constructive. The core point (of the previous argument) is if there is a Geoscape layer in the new game. My opinion is yes; even though it is more integrated with the Base layer of the game now. XCOM has 3 layers, and I find it natural to structure the content around these layers (I might be biased from playing the old games).

  • Tactical/Battlescape = (Soldiers, Abilities, Weapons, Armour, Tactics, Maps ... and so on. )
  • Base = ( Economy, Production, Research, Staff ...)
  • Strategical/Geoscape = ( Interception, Satellites, Bases (interceptor in this case), Panic, and so on. )

My suggestions:

  • Keep the Geoscape (or whatever you want to call it). And keep Mission Control, Situation Room
  • Mission types can have a single page until we have enough info on each type of mission.
  • "Combat Tactics" is actually a part of Battlescape, unless we should sort all "facts" in one section and "non-facts" (tips, guides, strategy and so on) in another.

Actually I'm convinced now that the Strategic/Base layers can be integrated together for table proposes - this also follows the game interface where you have tabs with all these names (and any strategy needs to consider all these operational areas):

I've put this chart on the XCOM page, which now explains the origin and propose of XCOM, its organization, and the victory conditions. I think the XCOM page may serve better to explain the general overview/goals of the Strategic Layer and then each of the 7 areas can go more into details about how it affects the game/strategy.

That's the logic behind Combat Tactics. Up to Battlescape (another name for it perhaps) everything should be more oriented towards explaining how the game works (facts) while afterwards it's more focused on Tactics/Strategy/Modding/Multiplayer/etc.
Listing all mission types is to prepare the future because I think you'll see a lot of interest on those pages, specially if they start including tips on how to complete the missions. Hobbes 09:12, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

This other chart expands the first by grouping the base facilities by operations area. PS - These are all starting facilities, no spoilers on any of those charts. Hobbes 15:02, 5 October 2012 (EDT)
