General Information

The end development in man-portable Gauss weaponry, the Heavy Gauss fires encased anti-protons at the enemy. However, the weapon fails to impress for several reasons. It is cumbersome, slow to aim, and has a small clip. While the best man can create, it isn't good enough to work on the stronger aliens. Much apart from all that, the Sonic Pistol exceeds this weapon in almost every category, making this weapon only seldom used by X-Com.

Comparison to UFO Mirror: Heavy Laser

The Heavy Gauss is even worse than it's predecessor, as hard as that may be to believe. While Aimed accuracy is up by a meager 6%, firing takes longer in both modes, the shot isn't as powerful as the Heavy Laser, and the clip is small. The weapon is also quite heavy when loaded, making it cumbersome for even a heavy weapons trooper.

  • The heavy Gauss is cumbersome, but extremely effective. It operates with 3 particle accelerators and is virtually unstoppable. The anti-proton stream is confined inside a Gallium Arsenide shell that implodes on impact releasing the anti-matter.
