Useful against Poppers?
I noticed a recent addition to this page noting that the Power Sword can kill Poppers without them exploding. However, to my understanding the Power Sword's lack of range will generally prevent it from being used on a Popper (in real-time mode or during the alien turn in turn-based mode) before the Popper detonates. - Back when I was playing the game heavily, I used to often build a small team of androids armed with dual swords. They were surprisingly effective and they had their occasional success against Poppers.
