[[Megapol]]'s Laser Sniper Gun is a development of (or, as some commanders would be tempted to say, a regression from) the [[Weapons#Laser Technology|laser]] technology from the [[First Alien War]]. The optical sight can distinguish an ultraviolet laser designator out to seventy-five meters, but it lacks any telescopic capability. Rather than allow [[Energen]] to participate in the weapon market, Megapol decided to provide energy pods to power the gun. Although the mass-produced pods are cheap, they are far less efficient – thirty discharges of power comparable to a [[Megapol Lawpistol|Lawpistol]]'s – than a high-quality pre-charged system such as was used in [[X-Com (Apocalypse)|X-COM]]'s first laser weapons.

The slow firing rate and average weapon power will limit it usefulness in typical medium to close combat situation to the point of being almost useless. It is best used from high elevations and with minimal threat from hostiles.
