A form of energy bubble that surrounds the unit holding/carrying the shield device. Protects the user against most forms of attack, eg: Armour Piercing, High Explosive, Incendiary, Plasma, Laser, Disrupter Beam, Devastator Beam, Acid Spit, Entropy Enzyme and impact damage from falls. Personal Shields only have a limited charge, and once this charge is exhausted, the device is 'destroyed'. It will recharge over a short time, but this may be too long if the tactical mission is hot. These shield devices may be placed anywhere in the inventory of an Agent, it does not need to be in the unit's hand to function. The Agent also may carry more than one, doing so, enables said Agent to "last longer".To capture for study,one must stun the owner with gas or use a mind bender in order to lift the disrupter shield off the alien.

An exotic device able to block weapons impacts and prevent injury to a unit. A complicated piece of technology which recharges its shielding effect slowly to full capacity (100%) automatically if not on the ground. It is used to protect against almost all forms of damage by enveloping a unit in a 'blue bubble' of dimensional energy until its own energy level has been reduced to zero, which the device self destructs harmlessly and disappears.<br>

If a (multi) shielded agent is under sustained attack, only one shield device is 'protecting' at any one time, however, the blue bar indicates the average of all shields. The blue shield bar will deplete when absorbing impacts until it one shield is destroyed, then immediately a second shield will become active by displaying a full (averaged) blue <s>health</s> shield bar. Disengaging the hostiles to prevent destruction of a shield will allow it to slowly recharge. A shield thrown or dropped on the ground will cease recharging.<br>

BEFORE YOU EDIT, NOTE: protection either works, or doesn't work. It is NOT based on percentages (eg: Laser Beam 50%). If this was the case then half of the damage is absorbed by the shield, which would mean the other half will injure the agent! ...which is not what happens, and there is a varible which randomises damage (and is calc'd against shields too). Percentages of damage are irrelvant (eg: 25% toxigun). AND do not put stun gas tactic here, thats for combat tactics pages! EsTeR
