The Alien Bomber is equipped with an unusual missile launcher that splits into multiple, independently targeted missiles. It also has a light beam weapon to deal with close air combat. There is a limited crew on board. From: Apocalypse Ufopaedia

Bombers (UFO Type 7) are used for mission types: bombing and alien search only. It will escort others but will not infiltrate aliens into buildings.
Cityscape Combat
This UFO uses an advanced missile weapon which splits into smaller projectiles, the Disruptor Multi-Bomb Launcher, which is a deadly threat to all unshielded X-Com craft. The Bomber is similar in purpose to the Destroyer but instead of destroying buildings, this UFO is designed to eliminate swarms of Hoverbikes. Combat survivability is also enhanced with a large shield, a cloaking device and teleporter.
Engage the Bomber with concentrated fire from the heaviest X-Com weaponry or exotics will eventually disable or destroy the threat. Total destruction is the usual outcome since the disabled constitution value is very low. X-Com craft which cannot mount a small shield or better, will suffer heavy combat losses.
If this UFO is bombing buildings, it may be ignored by X-Com unless a base is targeted. The Bomber may be attacked by Megapol law enforcement or by building defenders which have launched when a corporation's building is attacked. The UFO's missile weapon will be low on ammunition from fighting others. Once out of ammunition, the Bomber is a minimal threat to X-Com and can then be engaged by swarming tactics.
Crash Recovery
The crash-recovery battlescape shows the light green UFO has impacted the ground in a hilly area and slid towards the south, leaving a long, wide trench in the north. Access into the UFO is possible from the north or south via single-height, two-wide doors. The single door (north door) facing the trench is accessible by a ramp, the two doors (south doors) are at grass level.
Battlescape Combat
The crash recovery battlescape is eight levels high.
The Bomber's single north door is easily covered by X-Com agents positioned on the ridge on both sides of the trench. If the ramp is preemptively destroyed, ground-based units may not choose this exit. The Bomber's two other doors located in the south are commonly used by aliens which can involve intense combat but enables easy ambush by X-Com agents if positioned on the big hill near the south-west. Aliens exiting the UFO are restricted from throwing grenades upwards onto this big hill due to the overhang of the UFO hull directly above the two doors. The I-beams and rubble area in front of the two doors offers some cover, but allows aliens inside the ship to attack any known X-Com positions outside. Powerful explosives from below may detonate the missile launchers embedded in the hull above. Debris will fall in the general area of the beams and rubble. Agents hidden behind the small hill which contains the above-ground bunker (or on top of the other 'big hill' in the southeast) can engage any aliens which exited the UFO and moved east.
The entry area of the UFO is split in two with access to the other half usually grav-lift via Level One. Overhead corridors located on both halves but do not allow shoot-downs due to the mesh fencing. Access to the highest levels is by the centrally located grav-lift which opens eastwards onto the floor containing large quantities of individual Multi-Bomb missile ammuntion. Errant weapons fire may detonate the missiles and cause massive damage. Beware of falling roof sections.
Research
A succesfully recovered Bomber will provide weapons, devices, and sub-systems for further research or to sell.
